Rockdale is always in need of people willing to help with worship, acolytes (candle lighting), greeting and ushering along with cleaners. This is not a select group but open to all who are willing to serve the Lord as Jesus asks each of us to do.
There are also opportunities to serve by bringing refreshments.

Refreshment Time-those with food allergies
We have a members who have food allergies and the following would be helpful for some of our refreshments after worship.
Fresh fruit and Veggies with dips always work. Any rice or corn product but make sure the corn flakes and rice krispies are the generic brands. The name brands all put malted barley in the cereal for flavor enhancement. Cheap is the way to go Jello and puddings also work.
If you have questions, ask Helen Schaub or Bert Ament.
IF.....Rockdale Worship is Cancelled due to Weather
When the weather is bad outside, PLEASE use your own discretion when it comes to Sunday worship at Rockdale. If we cancel service, we do try to phone everyone but sometimes a name gets missed. If you are unsure if worship is being held on a foul weather day, please feel free to contact Jeanne Conley 608.225.2385 (lay leader) or Ron Schromen, 563.582.9767, (administrative board chairperson) for information.
Worship at Rockdale-for your information
For your children, there are “Busy Bags” for use during worship time. Be sure to place used bags in the basket by the bag tree to be refilled. You are also welcome to bring quiet toys in from the fellowship hall along with puzzles, crayons etc. A cart with books for all ages is also available during worship time.
We do also provide in the kitchen (in the back of the fellowship hall on the right) an area if you feel your child is becoming disruptive. There will be toys and games in this area. There is also a speaker so you will be able to listen to the service.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: As a Safe Sanctuary church, children are to remain with their care givers at all times during and after worship. Please do not let them play in the fellowship hall or outside by themselves. It is important to us here at Rockdale UMC that we keep your children safe.
As a continued reminder:
If you have a prayer concern during worship, please fill out the slip of paper from an usher. An usher will then pick them up during children’s time. During prayer time, these will be read out loud and then given to a member to be prayed for that week. If you are unable to come forward, please raise your hand at this time and a prayer concern will be brought to you.
There are also prayer cards at your pews in the bibles if you wish your prayer concern to remain anonymous and will still be given to a prayer warrior. These may also be taken from the church for friends and family to fill out and returned to Rockdale and given to Pastor Linda.
As a final note, we encourage you to bring your own bible to worship and Christian Education to use, highlight and study.

Rockdale Ad Council
Please note that Ad Council will meet at Stonehill Care Center so Karen can join us. Go in the main entrance and there is a room off the main "coffee room" to the right. Please be there at 6:00 p.m. for a short meeting. Afterwards we will break into committees to discuss our job descriptions whether we are a trustee, christian ed or hospitality. Even if you would like to come this evening just to see what Ad Council is all about, please do so.

Christian Education
Please be prying now for Vacation Bible School being held at Rockdale this summer. Pray for teachers, kids and God's message of love to touch the hearts of all who will become involved. Let Rockdale and its surrounding community hear and see kids playing and laughing and the joy of God in their lives. Ask Jamie Viner how to become involved TODAY!
WOW for kids is every Wednesday, at Rockdale from 5:30 to 7:00. Parents must be back by 6:20 for a meal afterwards. Bible lesson, music, art, and more. Ages 3 years to 5th grade. Open to all kids. If you know a someone who needs a ride, let us know. Questions-Ask Jamie Viner or Kelli Genz
Christian Education for Adults is Sunday’s following worship at approximately 10:15. Grab a cup of coffee and a snack and enjoy the fellowship.
Timothy Bible Study -- Tuesday’s at Rockdale, 6:00 p.m. Lenten study on "Journey of Hope" begins on February 28. This bible study also meets on Thursday's at "The Barn" in Sherrill at NOON.

Missions & Outreach Opportunities
February is SOUPER month! Please bring cans of soup, crackers, etc anytime the month of February to be given to the seminary students food cupboard.
Do you have worn out athletic shoes? If so, please bring them to Rockdale. A member of Grand View is collecting them as a project as they will eventually be recycled into playground materials, etc.
Global Goods-A Fair Trade Gift Shop (1141 Main St.).
Global Goods open Mon-Fri 10-5:30 Sat 10-2. Global Goods is a wonderful place to shop for those unique gifts while helping to provide a fair wage for those who make these items.
Can I Still Purchase Memorial Bricks? YES!
You may still purchase a brick in memory or honor of a loved one for $50.00 plus $15.00 for engraving. Please see the fellowship table for forms or ask Tony Gantenbein if you have questions

Thursday, February 9 beginning at 5:30. MANY different varieties of soups, a relish station, bread, chese and crackers, dessert and beverages. Tickets $8.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door.
